Engaging Communities Through Poetry and Innovative Support

Engaging Communities Through Poetry and Innovative Support.

  • At the Multicultural Resource Centre, we organize poetry festivals and live poetry readings to engage and inspire our community. Our projects are delivered by a management committee and a dedicated team of freelance session workers, supported by paid staff and volunteers. However, following the national lockdown, we have postponed all in-person sessions and workshops, both indoors and outdoors, to ensure everyone's safety.

  • In response, we’ve adopted digital and innovative approaches to provide swift, responsive, and reassuring support to the communities we serve. Throughout lockdown, we’ve collaborated with local community groups, and feedback has shown that our bilingual approach and teletherapy have yielded highly positive outcomes. Understanding the challenges of staying connected, motivated, and engaged during these unprecedented times, we’ve aimed to offer clients creative outlets to help them feel connected and keep their minds calm and relaxed.

  • We deliver sessions to seven other organizations across Greater Manchester, and we are currently working with South Asian LGBT individuals, asylum seekers, and refugees. We provide vital services, including information on COVID-19 updates and access to food banks.
