Information

The Multicultural Resource Centre wouldn't be the same without our incredible team of dedicated volunteers. Every individual brings unique skills and energy to our team and our community. With high demand for our services, we are always on the lookout for new volunteers to join us!

Do you enjoy helping others solve their problems?

Maybe you have a passion for working with children or want more experience with people from different cultural backgrounds?

Do you align with our values and ethos?

If so, we might have the perfect volunteering opportunity for you:

Advice Workers
Our core service involves providing one-to-one Advice Consultations to ethnic minority clients, primarily from the local area. Skills useful for this role include excellent communication, particularly active listening, familiarity with completing online forms, and strong problem-solving abilities.

Play Workers
Play Workers are a valuable part of our Bubbles Toddler Group and can assist with child supervision during our ESOL English classes. Parents are always present, so you won’t be responsible for the children, but you’ll help facilitate activities like craft time, engage with children during free play, and assist in providing snacks.

Women’s Workers
We focus heavily on supporting ethnic minority women through initiatives like ‘Chai and Chat’ (a women’s social/craft group), ESOL English classes, and the Bubbles Toddler Group. Many of the women we work with have experienced social isolation and are eager to make new connections. Our Women’s Workers help them build confidence and acquire new skills.

Training

All volunteers begin by shadowing experienced team members to gain insights into procedures and services. We also arrange in-house and external training sessions on various topics, such as cultural awareness, welfare, immigration, and safeguarding, especially when significant policy changes occur.
