Imtiaz Patel
Project Worker
Imtiaz Patel is a highly respected community leader known for his contributions to education, empowerment, and civic engagement. His work as a bridge builder and advocate for cultural and artistic initiatives has positively impacted numerous individuals and organizations in the North West of England.
For over a decade, he worked with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, serving as the Development Officer for South Asian Arts from 1989 to 1999. During this time, he was instrumental in establishing the UK’s first permanent South Asian Gallery at Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery, dedicated to promoting and preserving South Asian heritage.
From 1999 to 2017, Imtiaz served as the Community Education Officer for the NHS Blackburn with Darwen HIV/AIDS, Contraception, and Sexual Health Team. His work focused on developing services and policies related to HIV/AIDS prevention and promoting sexual health within Asian communities. He also collaborated with health specialists and community workers to address broader sexual health issues across diverse populations.
Currently, Imtiaz Patel continues his impactful community work as a Project Worker at the Multicultural Resource Centre, where he contributes to various cultural, health, and community initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing and empowerment of ethnic minority communities.
